"Summer Memories"

Kenya Dreams

Last year we went on our first safari. It was filled with late nights, early mornings and very little sleep in between! My favourite day started with a hot air balloon over the game reserve. I’m not sure whether you’ve ever been on a hot air balloon but to start you have to lie down in the basket, on your back. It’s the weirdest sensation. We took off, watched the sun rise and saw our first glimpse of elephants and giraffe. We landed and had breakfast surrounded by animals in the park.

Next, we went on a drive and saw a pride of lions only a few metres away. It took our breath away. We saw a family of elephants and the wildebeest migrating.

Then finally we visited a Maasai village. I found myself sat on the bed, inside the mud hut of a villager. After very little sleep, I found it all quite overwhelming! I thought the day couldn’t hold any more surprises….then my childhood sweetheart of 13 years proposed. Nothing fancy, just him, me, in our bedroom, under the mosquito nets. It was the most perfect day.
